So much to share, so much to talk about, I don't even know where to begin. This week I am sharing with you one of the most powerful TedX talks that I have seen; a talk from one of the most inspirational, smart, gritty females that any of us will ever have the honor of listening to. The funny thing is that 3 weeks ago, I had never heard of her, it was not until one of my friends, a member at the gym, a mom and a triathlete shared with me the story of Turia Pitt.
Turia was viciously burned while running an ultramarathon where a bushfire started and chased her up a mountain. Told that she would never walk again, Turia recently crossed the finish line to an Ironman race!
Having watched Turia's talk a few times, I take away something new each time I watch it. I am inspired to be better, to be grittier, to be even more appreciative of everything in my life; my body, my ability to do the things I love to do. There are so many things that Turia touches upon that I draw strength and inspiration from, but rather than tell you what I get from her story, I'll let you watch it and take from it what you wish.
The one thing that I will touch upon from her talk is the notion that we all wear "masks", and that we should break free of these masks and just be. Be you, love you. Don't hide, don't be ashamed, be proud.
I really hope that all of you take the time (it's only 18 minutes long) to watch this video and be inspired to break through your walls, break through your mindset that may be possibly holding you back from doing something that you want to do. As Turia reminds us, and as I have said time and time again, there is not always going to be a next year, so stop putting things off, do it now.
